Speaking of foibles. So I'm reading this book, and the author has put in little quotes at the beginning of each chapter - you know what I mean. It's pretty common. I generally find these kind of interesting. But I've noticed an odd habit in my old age - I don't have the patience to read the whole quote without first looking down to see who it's from. I mean, really, we're only talking a few sentences here. Can't I just wait?? I guess not.
I'm noticing this on a bigger scale while reading. I'm almost at the point where I have to put a hand on the bottom half of the page so that I don't start skipping ahead. This is particularly true of pages that are at the end of chapters, where authors will generally try to end with a bang.
Freak.
