Something struck me today that I hadn't really noticed before - the cafeteria here at work usually serves "holiday meals" around the time of said holidays. So for instance today we had "Thanksgiving lunch," comprised of exactly what you would expect. What never occurred to me before today is just how odd this is - I mean, presumably if people care about Thanksgiving, they're going to be eating all that stuff next week, right? In fact, isn't one of the standing jokes that by the time you're done eating on Thanksgiving day, you're so sick of the food that you don't want to eat all of the leftovers?? So then why on earth would you want to start a week early? (Especially when it's of cafeteria quality.)
I guess I just don't understand.
Something else that I don't understand - there's a poster in one of the copier rooms here that I was in for the first time today. This poster has a picture on it of a guy looking frightened in front of a small trash can that's on fire. The caption is, "Prevent fires - discard rags only in approved containers."
Huh??
I don't get it. First off, how many times a day do you discard rags? And not only that, but WTF do they have to do with preventing fires????
I want something from here. (Actually, I guess I'd rather have a new car, but that ain't likely to happen anytime soon so I'll settle with something from here.)
Cool video. Click on the abstract looking object to the right of the photos.
